all the worlds’ a stage,
y todos son bienvenidos
Our mission is to create professional and community-inclusive performing arts in the Yampa Valley, ensuring accessibility through free summer Shakespeare productions and community based theatrical workshops and classes. We value arts education and provide opportunities for our artists to teach workshops, engage with schools, and connect with audiences of all ages.
"Nuestra misión es crear artes escénicas profesionales e inclusivas en la comunidad del Valle de Yampa, asegurando la accesibilidad a través de producciones de verano gratuitas. Valoramos la educación artística y brindamos oportunidades para que nuestros artistas impartan talleres, se involucren con las escuelas y se conecten con audiencias de todas las edades."
Theatre is for everyone:
THE BRANHAM AMPHITHEATER AT STRAWBERRY PARK
The Branham Amphitheater is Piknik Theatre’s new outdoor home for live performance. It is an intimate, fully acoustic, community-centered venue designed to bring professional artistry, youth education, and accessible theatre together under the open sky in Steamboat Springs. Nestled into its natural setting, the amphitheatre is a gathering place where families, friends, artists, and students can share stories, music, and Shakespeare in a welcoming, inclusive environment.
As we open this inaugural season, the Branham Amphitheater represents both a bold artistic leap forward and a lasting community legacy—made possible through the generosity of local supporters and a shared belief in the power of live performance.
The Branham Amphitheater is located next to Strawberry Park Elementary School. Parking is available between SPE and SSMS.
our stage; your love, amplified
Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of the Branham family, all donations made to Piknik Theatre this season will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $25,000. This means your gift will have double the impact in helping launch and sustain the inaugural season at the Branham Amphitheatre.
In addition, should you choose to contribute $1,000 or more by March 15, 2026, you will have the opportunity to dedicate a Love & Legacy tribute at the amphitheater in honor of someone you love.
These personalized messages will become a permanent part of the venue, creating a meaningful and visible legacy for your loved one while celebrating the spirit of community that built this space.
Your participation not only honors someone special in your life, but also directly supports expanded programming, youth education, and free community performances in our new outdoor home.
2025 HIGHLIGHTS
MESSAGE FROM our new executive DIRECTOR
In January of this year, Stuart asked me to formally step into leadership of Piknik Theatre. I said yes with a full heart and with a clear understanding that this next chapter can’t look like the last.
For nearly twenty years, Piknik has lived on Stuart’s vision, grit, and generosity. But to grow, we have to build the structure necessary to evolve and sustain a professional theatre deep in the heart of rural Colorado. This means we must invest in professional leadership, artists, and educators who can deepen our work, mentor young creatives, and bring year-round programming to life.
A professional theatre requires professional infrastructure.
There’s no way around it — and it’s the only way to protect the spirit of what Stuart built.
If this work has ever moved you, made you laugh, challenged you, or reminded you of what it feels like to sit under a summer sky and believe in something bigger — now is the moment.
Your support isn’t just a donation. It’s an act of stewardship.
Let’s build what comes next — together.
